I got my Gateway 7405 online a while ago for $1099 w/rebate at bestbuy.com. It has Athlon64 3200, 512Mb PC2700 RAM, 80Gb hard drive, Radeon 9600 64Mb, and an 8x DVD+-burner. The radeon is very overclockable, I can get mine up to 440/230.

I also bought the wenger backpack, very nice, plus it has room for all the cables, power adapters, etc. that I need. I also find it easier to carry a backpack as opposed to a 'traditional' over-the-shoulder laptop bag.
