I've had the Targus for a year now. It isn't showing many signs of wear despite everyday use. I guess its pro's are being well-built and REALLY big. Fully loaded, its size can be a problem on airplanes--gotta jimmy it around to get it...

Dependng upon the power scheme selected, it'll automatically go into hibernation after a certain period of time. Check the current power scheme in Power Options.

The existing OS will be wiped out as part of the formatting process. Just format that partition, then continue with your installation.
