I got the 2.0 with both my notebooks simply because a trip to Newegg shows the Pentium M chips are exspensive so an upgrade later would be a waste of money.

I hear Dell is planning to assemble a customized tour bus that is rigged with 1000s of LCDs. They will send it on a nationwide tour and let all of their "Hard to please" customers come in an hand pick their own screens.
I think you need to go down to Best Buy or Circuit City and find a notebook that lives up to your standards and then buy it.
All these returns to Dell have to be driving the cost up for the rest of us with lower expectations than you.
