i downloaded the drivers for the 4080 from the sager site and installed it. that and windows update. other than that i dont think i did any special except install a bunch of programs. it might be because i haven't junked up windows yet...
make a startup disk or use the windows xp installation cd to format. i dont think you can format the drive if you're on it.
i have the 4080c, 15" sxga+, 2.6GHz, 9600 pro, 60GB HD 7200rpm, 512MB ram. maybe it's the hd or not. but i have 3 stuck pixels as far as i know. i'd trade 250 less points for a flawless screen.

i think a cheaper 4080c would get you similar 3dmark results as an 8890v. http://notebookforums.com/showthread.php?t=13664
