I've recently posted about newer software/drive (newer than what I had). The Atheros client is kinda clunky but I experience signal loss in two different laptops when I let windows manage the card.

i used the java download manager and got crazy fast speeds here at work! it was done with the whole 2+gb in a very short time. I screen captured it at a peak of like 3.7mb/s!

bumping this back up.... I read the article and performed the disk operations. My user continues to have issues with the software mentioned above. This unit is maybe a month old now and she says it performs MUCH slower than her...

NHC is telling me 39C right now, been on for about an hour just doing web surfing and running gaim. HTS721080g9SA00: Hitachi Travelstar 7K100 80gb 7200rpm I'm not sure how well you can accurately determine what drive brand/model runs...
