you should be able to order a new palmrest through dell spare parts... it isn't overly hard to replace, dell should have instrucations in the online tech manual. Search google for 'dell support'.
I wonder if one card could be powered down when not needed. That would make the battery roughly the same as the XPS2 in regular non-3d apps ( using a P-M system) Although I don't know of there are any SLI motherboards for the P-M...
