I've posted about this before, but the problem is extremely problematic now. Heat is concentrated at the gpu and isn't traveling down the heatpipe. Even with low power mode for the ati and underclocking, it's still hard to keep temps...
oh believe me. i've taken everything apart. and if the heatpipe wasn't broken, it is now when i tried to pry it off, although temps aren't any different.
For some reason, my heatpipe is broken, and if I keep it on max performance mode, idle temps in 2d will slowly creep up to around 70'c. If I go in 3d, it'll go up towards 80 until it locks up the system. If I keep it in laptop battery...
As I understand it, where vss (gnd) is used to drop bsel to low, vcc (vcore) can be used to bring bsel up to high, instead of insulation / pulling pin. Still wouldn't change anything about eist/c1e forcing 6x.

Shielding and cutting off acheive the same purpose. The OP did shield it with an ata ribbon. And it was a good thing, since it looks like EIST is going into some safety mode and forcing 6x, which more or less is defeating the purpose....
