Final Update and kudos to Dave-P. The drivers for the vista versions of the audio do indeed work on the win 7 installation if you uninstall the high def audio device that windows installs first...Then run the dell drivers and perfect...

Yeah I tried the vista drivers and all are fail...Going to try the 32bit version of the OS..Also the card drivers seem to all be installed. maybe missed one though...

UPDATE..SMbus error gone after intel website chipset drivers installed...all that is is left is a base system device. Any clues? Subwoofer is still not functional either.
