weird issue, everytime i click on 'safely remove hardware' then clicking on STOP on the USB hard drive i have, windows xp would disconnect the drive for about 3 seconds (disappear from my computer) and immediately it would automatically...

get a good surge protector that will protect you from unstable electric spikes or drops or a UPC if you are staying in one spot (cause it's too heavy to take on trips) i bet it's the unstable electric current that's killing your adapters...

are you sure you got the 'correct' drivers? make sure you download the dell stock drivers from dell... also, last time i had a problem with my card reader, it turned out to be incompatibility with high capacity cards... but not likely...
