my 1210 hitachi drive also makes a weird noise, like as if a drop of water dripped onto the drive, kinda high pitched and nothing like a crunch... but only when its idling, weird!
Does the Audigy s/w make a lot of difference to sound from the speakers/headphones? I assume it stays in the background at all times? Does it tax the system resources this way?
