That program didn't detect my fan, but it did display a temperature reading. Is there anything else, esp known for my machine, to work?

Okay.. the Dells got the better gfx card. Also, if you use the coupon in the Deals and Coupons section.. you can get that laptop.. w/ a better res. display and same specs for arond 1350. So I would go for that.

You should be ok, depending on the graphic settings you prefer. It wont run at the highest.. but still decent. The other specs are nice, and it will be a good system for a bit longer.

Trust me.. the higher res is better.

I am a minimalist.. I sold my desktop right when I got my laptop. Originally I brought my desktop up to college w/ me, but when I plan to head back for holidays, it would be troublesome to lug the desktop back.. so naturally I sold it...
