Something I did notice about mine was that the solder points were good, but the switch portion of the jack was messed up. I'm pretty sure i could switch the mic and the headphone jack out and everything would work fine.

Yes, Dell installs a ton of junk on it's OS installs. You can uninstall a lot of it, but I typically just do a clean install myself. 20-25 process ftw.
