Not sure why that's happening, the only thing I could think of is cpu/bus throtling or hard drive throtling (never heard of it, but u never know). Ask PCTorque.
As for warranty, from what I've heard the Alienwares is not that great. I have friends who have tried to get better warranties by going with Hypersonis/Alienware etc. and received the same service (if not worse) that other companies offer.

PCTorque from my observation is a very good value. I wanted to buy from them, but I needed a more portable computer so I bought a nc6000. I don't think you can go wrong with PCTorque. Also, you have a better chance of getting service...
Nc6000 is really good for games and traveling. While not quite as fast as heavier computers, it is virtually unsurpasable except for the Sony S series which is a 13 inch WXGA.
