Make sure you don't use any bluetooth devices when your screen's shut (ie. mice, cell phones, etc.) Using them will wake up the screen.

Are you trying on batts? I remember getting slightly choppy video when I play DVDs with NVidia Powermizer set to max batt. But then...I'm only running a 6800go

Do the lines just flash during bootup? I think that's normal, as it happens to my laptop also. Is the light leakage in one location, specifically from the bottom? That's a common issue too, though it's less pronounced on the 700m then...
