It is on the latest platform - everything is current. It just came out in June, and since you add your own CPU, HD, RAM, etc, there isn't anything I can think of that they could update.

Well, I only have the DVD/CDRW in my Z63A, so I haven't burned a DVD. However, I don't think the GPU has anything to do with DVD burning. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong. The video editing might be an issue though.
Most vendors say it doesn't do a darn. If applied poorly it could even be bad and void your CPU warranty.
There is no way a similarly configured Z63A would be more $ than the W3V. In fact I just configured a Z63A (just to confirm) @ ISTNC with W3V specs (no GPU, of course, 60/5400, 512, wireless) and it came to $1478 W/ XP Pro, or $1318 W/O...
Yup, I would also highly recommend the Z63A, as long as she doesn't need a video card. Bought mine from ISTNC - great people.
ISTNC has been great to me.
