hey i've been checking out this place: http://www.cdrinfo.com/forum/tm.asp?m=84345 cuz i'm sorta a n00b to all this, but why so many different firmwares for this drive? which one is "the best"?

I got the NEC ND-6500A and this stupid bugger won't let me burn faster that 6x! I'm using the latest version of Nero from the website, 6.6 Ultra and Memorex 8x DVD+R's. Anyone else w/the same drive able to burn at 8x?

Cool, I'll check out RS to see if they have any NiMH cells. I'm probably going to avoid NiCD cells cuz they have memory effect. Doh! I forgot about finding a charger! I'll have to look around and update this when I find a suitable...

Since Dell doesn't make a modular bay battery pack for the 700m, I've been looking into creating my own and have discovered a few things. First, I thought of using the weight-saver module as the shell of this battery pack...~$3 Info...

I just got my 700M yesterday and my brother got the 6000. What sucks about the 700M is that it lacks any type of on-screen display for the volume buttons...which look pretty slick. What also sucks is that it doesn't have Quickset*...
