Well I tried in both hq and lq and it is always the same although when I saw YouTube video playing on iPhone 5 it was full screen without stripes and that is why I think it is due to 4:3 and not 16:9 aspect ratio.

Hmmm I'm also using youtube via browser on my iP4s and I get 2 black strips up and down.
