The limited range of 802.11a is overrated due to the first generation 802.11a which had 1/2 to 2/3 of the range of 802.11b. Most dual band (802.11abg) have second generation 802.11a which only has a slight disadvantage in range compared...
I've upgraded a Latitude C610 and an Inspiron 8000 with these 7,200rpm drives. No noticeable difference in battery runtime. No noticeable changes in temperature either - it got warm before, it still get warm now. However, I noticed a big...
jmmm...;s right. Rip your DVDs to your hard drive and replace the modular DVD with the modular secondary battery. Change your power profile to max battery. Dim your screen to as low as you can tolerate. Turn off wifi. With two batteries...
A good solution for the "poor" (3 to 4 hours) battery life of the Acer 81** is to get the secondary battery for the modular bay when it becomes available. Another is turn off wifi (specially 802.11a) and bluetooth if/when not...

ATI X300 is roughly based on MR9000/9200 but with native PCI-Express support. I think the best compromise for speed and mobility(less power consumption) is the X700 due to it's based on .11 die fabrication (thinner, cooler, potential for...
I can see the benefit of a P4/800Mhz FSB system with a dual channel DDR400 memory subsystem. It means that the FSB can access the memory kinda like a RAID0 (striped) dual harddrives. But P-M/533 FSB with a dual channel DDR2/533Mhz memory...
