My M90 turned out to have 5 year warranty, not 3 as I had thought. (Its now 4 years old). Which is good as it was starting to get really flaky. Dell came out and replaced the fans, the GPU, and indeed the motherboard so its all working...

Yes, expresscard *slots* support both. The trick is finding an *expresscard* that isn't just USB and actually uses PCIe.
I agree that its pretty handy for graphics professionals, especially given the increased use of OpenGL to accelerate 2D imaging tasks.
