What was the part number for bluetooth part? Have you tried calling gateway to see if it is an actual module?

Most slim IDE drives will work with your laptop. You just need to swap the face plates so it will sit flush.
You easily find a guide online on how to dual boot XP and Vista. The XP drivers are hard to get but some in the forum had hunted them down. A search should lead you to them from their threads.
I think most Gateway laptops have an integrated bluetooth module on the motherboard but I'm not positive on that. I haven't seen a module for Gateway like how Dell has one.

It's hard to diagnose but you can try removing the battery, hard drive, cd drive and see if it boots. It can still be a motherboard or cpu problem but you can always try.
Are you using the supplied reinstall CD or another OEM version? This is happened to me when I try using an OEM XP disc then I had to call Microsoft to get an activation code.
Tried entering the code on the COA on the bottom of the laptop?
