The washed out look in HDR is part of the artistic style, and done on purpose.
It's not really meant to look like real life. Just something to think about.
The grass is a killer. I just put up with the stuttering until a fight starts. Then I hit escape and turn the grass off.
Fight over, grass goes back on.
This is with a 7800GTX running at 1280x800 or some such.
Dollar per unit performance, right before a new model is released (now) is the best time to buy. Unless of course you NEED the absolute best at all times.

I play Oblivion on my XPS2 w/6800 Ultra, my wife plays on the 9100 w/MR9800. Comparing the two, they get roughly the same...
My wife plays OB quite nicely on my 9100. Just be sure to hunt down a MR9800 and 2GB of RAM.
Honestly, it plays on the 9100 almost as well as it does on my XPS2 with the 6800 Ultra.
Your best bet is to not have a preference or a loyalty. Simply buy whoever is on top at the moment you are ready to purchase. Both companies make great products.
