I would go for the HP model. While the screen is noticibly larger, the weight is still pretty nice at 2.9 KG. My current laptop is 2.9 KG, and trust me that is plenty light. Plus as was mentioned, the HP has the better specs of the two....
On one hand I kind of wished I had waited to buy my laptop now, but on the other hand I don't think price drops on processors would have affected the price of laptops that were already in stores, would of it ?
If your parents don't mind, I would go for the 2.0 . It may not be a huge performance difference, but why not go for the better one when you can. Looking at your sig, that's going to be one sweet laptop.
If you are fully capable of installing it yourself, I say get the 256 and upgrade later. I am not sure if it will void your warrenty, better contact HP and ask first.
I would check out one of the Dell XPS series of notebooks. They have Centrino's combined with 6800 Ultra's. Battery life should be decent with the 9 cell batteries. They are insanly expensive though, I think just over $2500 US, but if...
I doubt the laptop BIOS has that option, and I know of no software program that will let you change those settings, but it is possible I guess. I would find out first if your motherboard will support DDR400.
I wish he was my father for the money, but I would disown him after he was dead or broke. He has a while before he is apointed ruler of the earth, but he will get there someday, probably after killing Bush to do it.
I don't hate the new name (not that I loved Longhorn), but am not loving it either, although those new features sound nice.... if they work properly.
They already offer laptops with such things as GeForce 6800GO's, so I am curious what is left other than things such as Image or build quality.
Ive heard really good things about their service. My friend recently bought a Dell Inspiron laptop and it was shipped with a faulty DVD burner so he called them and they brought a new one to his house the next day and installed it.
