For some odd reason, when I read your post, Dell CSR trading cards came to mind.
Dishwasher - top rack only. seriously, a little water and a microfiber cloth (you can find these in the auto section at Wal*Mart for a couple bucks) will do the trick. Electronics wipes work fine as well. Window cleaner...

Those errors are related to windows or some other misbehaving program. You'll need to post the exact error message without the Xs. The wording of those error messages is very poor on MS's part.
