that's lame...that leaves you with an extra 512 MB stick laying around afterwards... how much disassembly do you think it will require? Is it worth doing after my crappy 1 year warranty expires? do you forsee any problems?

again, HP fails to capture part of the notebook market by keeping the Xpress 200M AND making the screen XGA only...big stinkin deal.

It doesn't matter. I'm asking how you measure battery life. Just like you commonly look at the speed of a CPU in gHz to compare, what is the best measure of battery life?
