I had this problem once with a radeon 7500 although it was much worse. I never could figure out a solution.

I got two lemons(E1505s) gave up and got and E1705. Both returns were pretty easy if a little confusing because the reps will tend to give you different answers when you call them but overall they do try and help.

I've nevered had any problems with the verbatim dual layer dvd+r. In fact I don't think I've ever seen -R for dual layer discs. At least not from verbatim. They have played fine in every dvd player i've tried. They can be pricey...
