The D/Dock has a Philips UDA1352TS DAC in it for analog sound output. This is a "Bitstream" ("1 bit") DAC. I have no idea what is sounds like - I use the SPDIF output. One advantage of the D/Dock over the D/Port is the built in power supply. The D/Port requires the power "brick" that adds a bit to the clutter. The D/Dock uses an ordinary "Mickey Mouse" power cable. Both D/Dock and D/Port go cheap on eBay. I just got a D/Dock with monitor stand for $55 shipped.
