Well, this has been my only comp for over a year, and tearing still sucks big time, it totaly ruins my games.

Go to this link and spin around as fast as you can? Do you get tearing? I do, even with v-sync enabled. That confirmes my fears, that v-sync only works in 3d games. To bad, whats the point with high-end gfx card if you get tearing?...
