I've heard from several people that t42's come with a cd drive problem. The CDRW doesn't usually work. A friend of mine had ordered 2 IBM thinkpads with the same problem. I wonder if this problem is as common as I think...

Yes, I did consider i700m, but the keyboard is too small. I also read some reviews about a microphone issue. I will use internet telephony often.. this makes it impossible for me to use 700m as my primary notebook.

A good keyboard is very important for me... It's like the primary thing I look for in a notebook. But I agree with you, it's not about specs... Heat+noise are important factors when buying a notebook.
