I would say probably not. If you are using a RAM intensive app then you would notice a difference but what you listed I would not see much diff.

I have two sticks of the Transcend Ram (2 x 1GB) and it works perfectly. I ordered them from newegg. I ran mem test overnight with no errors. You should be fine.

Format reinstall? I know its time consuming but worth it if it takes care of it.

Hmmm. I had the problem with Windows Media Player but not with Power DVD. Try power DVD again and make sure you hit the front buttons and volume control on in windows... Good Luck
