This happens to me on occasion. Sometimes programs start hogging the processor, but not actually doing anything with it. The culprit in my case was MSN Messenger. I wasn't even signed in.

i do indeed have the 128mb version. I start to notice problems around 470 for the core and 350 for the memory. 2D displays fine, but games hang.

You'd be really impressed if you tried overclocking it. The x300 is very tolerant. Mine is at 445/320 with a 3dmark score or 1802
