I dont think this is a very fair comparison not just because of hardware but also because of the software. I would put money on that powerbook loading a shit load of stuff at boot while the developers kit is pretty much stripped bare.

People are currently working on getting the nvidia drivers working. My guess would be another 2-4 weeks and we will have fully accelerated graphics.
