apparently nowhere. Acer claims that you can get an updated version at www.ferrariworld.com but there is no release for the F4005 just the F3200 and that was for the year 2005.
I have one with the option of either using a wall socket or a second usb port. It's the LaCie DVD+-RW DL Slim, Design by FA Porsche.
It's also quite small so it is easy to take with you.

most probably a resistor or an IC got the wrong amount of voltage.
I had an mp3 player(I know it's not the same thing) that got charged with a reverse polarity adapter and it melted in a similar way.
I just did a clean install on my F4005 and I used the latest drivers from realtek and it worked fine. Maybe the installation file that you downloaded was corrupted?
I'm also thinking of doing a small upgrade to the F4005. I'm not sure if I should just increase the RAM to 2GB PC2700 or PC3200 or get a new 100GB 7200RPM HDD.
Here in the UK the price difference between the two upgrades is around 60...
