I would try to replace it yourself I have replaced a screen on an IBM T21 and a hard drive on a Winbook SI and its not hard as long as you follow all the directions Just label all the pieces and stick them over a copy of the directions...

how about the asus c90
try rjtech.com or eurocom.com do not get one made for a d900t, it will have the wrong bios and you will get garbled display or no display at all

dont upgrade to the 8890, its still dated
you can always try rjtech.com, mobos for others are about 500-600
but why not a 9890-style dtr?

yep graininess is on all x1600 laptops, the issue is now open in taiwan so hopefully a fix will come running fine after restore
