personally, I would go with the Acer better GPU, 64-bit CPU, longer battery life, denser screen resolution, more portable, and has a carbon fiber lid
that's what i figured... i think there return policy was 7 or 8+... (or was that NewEgg's...)
Out of curiosity, does anyone know what HP's policy for dead/faulty pixels are (for their laptops)?
O.O wow...great price (althouth the last time I bought an eMachine laptop... I had to return it due to manufacture defect)

maybe you should also look into one w/ an ATI 9700 or 9800, which are not PCI-express, but AGP
the zv6000 and r4000 series are not meant for gaming hmm....you should also look for a lappy w/ a ATI x700 or x800 (or nVidia's Go 6 series)... for under 2K? try looking @ Acer, Gateway, and some of the online companies such as...
i won't profress to know anything, but could it be a driver problem or could you manually adjust the screen settings?
for RAM, I would suggest Corsair (and if you want to see ur CPU speed more accurately, get MobileMeter) (setting the power option to always on makes the cpu run @ highest frequency)
no idea, but what i do know is that there is a severe lack of 64 bit drivers for Windows XP 64x (you only get it free if you have xp pro)... I might wait for all the drivers to come out or just wait for longhorn
