That's because the optical drive bay supports hot swapping drives. you can use that to turn the drive off, and then pop it out or switch it with another drive while the machine is running. J.

First advise, do some searches on this forum to find peoples opinions of the 700M. The keyboard takes a small amount of getting used to. Now i can type on it every bit as efficiently as i can on my desktop. The screen is simply awesome....
