Uhh... the system restore and the diagnostics are on two separate partitions. You can delete the restore one and keep the diagnostics.
I haven't got one but it be safe to assume that everything is included on the CD. Isn't Dell marketing them as restore CD's?

Assuming you made a Dell CD you won't need the restore partition. If you're that worried, get Acronis TrueImage or Ghost.

Not sure about the $10 CD. I do know that the CD you make is only for your laptop because the drivers are slipstreamed into it. We just have to wait until someone spends $10 to get a CD and see if its the OS CD or a customized CD for...
Can someone write a guide using RMClock 1.6. I'm getting a little confused with the new Management tab.
The Dell system with the least complaints in terms of build quality, LCD's, etc. I believe is the 700m. I might be biased 'cause I have one but they really are solid machines.
How big of a partition did you leave for the XP OS?
