yup - i've got the alps driver installed and running but tried to install the synaptics one because I liked my sager touchpad (with synaptics) better... but it did not work so I gave up
I tried to install the synaptics drivers and they did not seem to be compatible with the touchpad hardware. When I ran the touchpad options utility it gave me options for an external mouse but not the touch pad options.
On a couple differend occasions I have closed the lid of my I8600 and when I open it again I can not get it to wake up. The green lights are still on and it makes a sound like it is trying to do something but the screen never turns on...
