Neither the 5500 nor the 7700 have a stock EAX Advanced 3.0 HD compatible soundcard. The 5500 has a standard AC97 soundchip and the 7700 an Intel HD chip.
If you want more than 2.1 sound in games you need an EAX capable USB/PCMCIA...
An external soundcard with EAX compatibility is needed if you want more than 2.1 sound in games. The stock card cannot handle dynamic 5.1 or 7.1 sound (EAX). Presampled sound like from DVDs are no prob.
