Same thing happened to me. The stick of ram wasn't seated properly. It seems you have to use an unuasully alot of force to seat the ram in the z71v.
This is just a guess but it sounds like it might just be bad batteries. I've done all kind of stuff on my z71v with no problems. I've drained it all the way down to 20% and always recharges to 100%. I use chc. I bought mine from istnc...
Should of gotten the Pentium M 1.6 400 fsb. Would of saved you some money and given you a 2.1ghz chip using the dip switch. oh well
