Does either have router have a port marked "Uplink"? If so, connect the uplink on one to a "regular" port on the other.

I'm trying to get my Intel 2200 and my roomate's SMC PCMCIA 802.11b to connect to his SMC router with some kind of encryption. I can get the 2200 to connect via WPA, but the SMC can't seem to do WPA event with the latest (working)...

Stupid question, but is the switch set "on"? If it is, maybe reinstalling the Intel software and the Compal app that runs the switch.

I wouldn't move the swap to an external drive. I don't think Windows would like it if you forgot to plug the drive in. Plus, some USB drives don't activate automatically on boot. You have to unplug/replug for it to detect.
