Very nice laptop! I will agree with the others saying AMD + ATi combination is great. I enjoyed using my dv2 before going back to my trusty thinkpad but the HP's display was beautiful.
I am going to suggest a Thinkpad. I beat the crap out of mine at school. I have slammed it against a concrete wall and not a mark or side effect. i leave mine on 24/7 (what is the point of turning it off if you know you will use it...
If you have an Ubuntu Live CD lying around, you can use GParted inside of it. If you don't have that, I'm pretty sure you can download GParted separately and burn it to a disk. Google "GParted."
Ouch, if replacing the keyboard didn't fix it, and that must have been expensive, I'd be upset as well. Don't give up. Look around for special Sony forums (if they exist, like forums.thinkpads.com).
