illuminated keyboards are only on the 15" and 17" powerbook models i'm afraid, but with white ibook keys i dont think you will havve much trouble, the light from the screen makes them pretty easy to see in the dark
Yeah if you have the ibook next to your face while you're sleeping, you wouldnt want it in sleep mode or you'll be put off by the pulsating white light by the latch button!

Well, I personally didn't think that the Mac suffered from slowdowns in comparison to how long the os build is, as is windows.
Extra ram always helps though! 1gb should be enough.
