go to control panel, power options, and select home office/desktop from the drop down menu. that should fix your problem. If it doesn't, you could have a power adapter that is not the right wattage for your machine.

Maximum performance still doesn't offer the same speed boosts as "home office/desktop" That is the best setting for performance.
