Ditch the zv6000. At 8 pounds, it's too heavy to be carried around everywhere for schoolwork.

Put the stuff you want to share in the "Shared Documents" folder and you should be able to see them.
Also, it's unlikely that you actually setup a real network for filesharing; at the moment, you are probably just sharing...
I'd actually recommend a HP dv4000. Easily configurable for gaming at $1400 or less from HP's website.
Remember to buy stuff you can upgrade later somewhere else(RAM, CPU (get at least the Pentium M), hard drive)
