Don't know of anything in an x-ray that would affect a computer that is shut off (or put to sleep). Doesn't mean there isn't something new.... I would have to agree that the metal detectors have a greater chance of causing damage....

Don't forget to look into the cost or replacement bulbs. Don't know what they are like for the Benq but I know some of them are in the $500+ range. 800x600 should be great for movies as everyone has said. Lumens really matters too...
