Turn off your screen, period. No need to mess with brightness or anything. Keep the lid open but you don't have to have it open all the way if you don't want dust on it. Just close halfway. The amount of heat generated at halfway closed...
No problem. C:\ is easy to resize, and you don't have to format the unpartitioned space... 'cause when you go into the Winstaller, it'll just say "or install to unpartitioned space" or something like that. It's easy.
Oh, and from now on make sure you put your data on separate partitions instead on the same as your OS. It'll save you from worry if your OS goes down.
Ok... here: See the second image? set your empty space after C:\ to however much you want, so long as the OS fits on there it'll run fine.

This is, ladies and gentlemen, why we partition our drives and store our "My Documents" folders on a drive other than C:\.
The best firewall is your router. That's not free though.
Vista lags because we're using it on PCs which are slower than those on which it'll eventually ship. Additionally, it contains an extensive debugger which slows down all regular performance.
CDex is your absolute best solution. It uses LAME encoding as well, so the quality is top notch.
