you would definitely hit a brick wall with the 7800GTX on the M1710 board. it would not be supported by the BIOS and there hasn't been much talk of BIOS hacking in a long time so you would definitely need to swap the 7800GTX for a 7900...

This is not artifacting in hardware, it's a bug in the game itself. You should be fine. Also try 169.09 drivers from LV2G.

Just because you personally haven't had a problem with it doesn't mean thousands of others haven't, or that it's not a steaming pile of crap. Gotta keep that in mind when making recommendations to others. To each their own though.
