Any reviews or opinions of the X-Fi Xtreme Audio Notebook card? I've got a Dell XPS M1210 with the basic audio system. I can hear hissing and get some background interference so I'm looking to get this card to improve the sound quality.
MCE does indeed support Remote Desktop, what it doesn't have (that XP Pro does) is support for connecting to a domain. I have done a fresh reinstall from the dell supplied MCE disk, and still have around 45 processes and memory usage...

I got a 14" 'GIMP' Crumpler sleeve for mine, it's almost exactly the right size for the M1210 with the 9 cell battery.
I seem to have the same problem, you really have to literally open and close it quickly for it to occur though. I think I found a workaround though, if you use the Fn+F8 combo to toggle the vga output.
I have not yet done the fresh install, but I just tried closing and quickly reopening the screen and it turns on just fine. What version of the forceware drivers did you install. WilliamG: What sort of MediaDirect issues did you have...

This is purely subjective, but the fans are not loud at all.
My UK model M1210 does not have any such ambient light sensor near the speaker. Where did you see it mentioned on the Dell website?
