Vista can resize the disk, if that's what you're using.
(and if you're not, but have the disk, it still lets you do it. I've had to use it a few times to resize drives)

You make your recovery disks...the new systems (that typically have Norton 08) require 3 discs, older ones require 2. I prefer jacks in the back, but they don't get in the way of anything.

You can do a search for the DV9000 series that ran XP, then get the drivers for that model.
You'll likely want to go elsewhere for videocard drivers, but everything else should be fine.
The 6700 series isn't bad. T7500 will be a sizable bump up from your Athlon. Actually, this system is a step up in every way except for maybe video and definitely harddrive. I'd go as low on the hdd as possible and pick up an aftermarket...
