Update on this thread. Dell sent me a new fan and heatsink modules. I've installed them. The fan has LARGER fins yes... Larger then what I have before. apparently they recognized this problem. So for you older xps m1210 users. Be ready...
That was the one I used the latest on their site. This has started since A06 I didn't pay attention to it. Until I started playing my games and my laptop got extra crispy.
Yea it pretty much start happening here after windows update. Other than that before that the machine was excellent. But my cpu is at 0 Percent and 1ghz in most of these instances.
Results of what you told me to do Is that a normal temp? The fan stays on low it seems.
Oddly with all this heat. My cpu and video card are the hottest. But the chipset is only at 25C.
If you look at my first post. It shows I was running NHC. I changed the settings from 1ghz to 2 ghz too Dynamic. Makes no difference.
Nothing is running in the background. This is a fresh install of XP. I went ahead in to bios and turned speedstep off to see if the clock would go down. Nope still max speed. On or Off it's not making a difference. I think when I come...
I forgot to post as well. That Speedstep IS NOT WORKING. I checked the bios its on. Any drivers? Windows XP MCE 2005.
I have the machine on a coffee table in the living room. The heater is set to about 65 or so. The temp on the A/C wall unit thing says 70. At the office the A/C runs at a cool 65 24/7. Is there a tutorial on how to dismantle this...
You know I reloaded windows after this screen shot the problem remains. It seems that Speedstep isn't down clocking my cpu. I don't know What the F*** to do anymore. Installed speed fan and ranning fan at full speed. Brings temps down...
